New Zealand truly has it all: breathtaking landscapes, a rich and diverse culture, and endless opportunities to build both a fulfilling career and an incredible lifestyle.

Discover a place where you’ll feel right at home while enjoying the natural beauty and relaxed way of life that New Zealand is famous for. Here, we embrace a slower pace and deeply value work-life balance, giving you more time to do what you love, inside and outside the practice.

Even in our larger cities, you’re never far from a beach, park, or scenic trail. Kiwis love the outdoors just as much as Americans do, here’s always something to explore right on your doorstep.

Relocation Process

We offer a relocation allowance to help support you with the move, and we hold full accreditation with Immigration New Zealand.

As Accredited Employers we can support your visa for both the short term and long term, and have an experienced team who will help make the move a smooth process!

There’s two key components to your relocation to New Zealand:

  • Registration to practice in your Dental Scope with the New Zealand Dental Council (DCNZ)
  • Your eligibility to work in New Zealand/Immigration

Dental Council Registration

If you’ve trained outside of New Zealand, to be able to practise as a dental professional here you are required to register with the New Zealand Dental Council.

To find out more about the pathways to registration visit the NZ Dental Council.

Please note, Lumino doesn't have any direct input into your registration process and doesn't act as an advisory body in your registration process, but we're able to give you general practical advice about practising in New Zealand. We encourage all Immigrating Clinicians to undertake this conversation with the Dental Council as soon as possible, as it will dictate your process and relocation timeframes.

Immigration New Zealand

If you're considering a relocation, you will need to have current and accurate advice, and this information either needs to come from Immigration New Zealand or your licensed immigration specialist. In New Zealand, it’s illegal for anyone unlicensed to provide advice.

Dentistry is currently listed under the Green List Roles under Immigration New Zealand. Allowing registered dentists to become an indefinite resident as soon as they arrive in the country.

Remuneration

At Lumino The Dentists, we understand that every clinician has different goals and preferences when it comes to how they work. That’s why we offer both employee and independent contractor options. For Immigration purposes, most dentists will need to start as an employee.

As an employee, you’ll enjoy the security of a regular salary, paid leave, and benefits such as professional development support and paid registration costs. This is $130,000 per annum with a 35% commission washup.

As an independent contractor, you’ll have the flexibility to manage your own schedule, workload, and earning potential. This arrangement offers greater autonomy and is perfect for clinicians who prefer a more self-directed approach. This is a standard 40% commission.

Whichever path you choose, you’ll be supported by Lumino’s extensive clinical network, modern facilities, and dedicated support teams. So you can focus on delivering exceptional patient care while enjoying life in New Zealand.

An introduction to New Zealand

Weather and climate in NZ - moving through the seasons

Christmas in Summer anyone? Tis’ the season for sunny beach days, adventures on the water, beautiful bush walks, mountain hiking and much much more. You really can't beat a Kiwi Summer!

Even when Summer fades to Autumn, the days are still warm, and that means beach swims through March and well into April in some parts of the country. Bush walks and hiking are also great options.

The Winters are less harsh in NZ, with temperatures dipping to between 12 – 16°C.
Snow sports galore, Queenstown and Wanaka in the South Island and the Central Plateau in the North Island are the most popular spots for skiing and snowboarding. The highest snowfall in these locations is usually throughout July and August.

It’s the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, and there is often spring skiing available at some ski fields too. You’ll find New Zealand’s countryside full of bouncing lambs and spring blossoms.
